Client Overview

Four Corners Rugs is a premium Australian rug boutique that curates a stunning collection of hand-woven, contemporary, and traditional rugs sourced from all over the world. Known for their exceptional craftsmanship and deep understanding of design, Four Corners serves a discerning clientele who are as passionate about interiors as they are about quality. Their physical stores offer a high-touch experience, but they wanted to bring that same level of interaction into their digital environment—and that’s where we came in.

The Challenge

As more customers shifted to online shopping, Four Corners Rugs recognised a growing problem: their digital experience didn’t reflect the tactile, immersive nature of shopping for rugs in-store. Customers were often hesitant to purchase online because they couldn’t easily visualise how a rug would look in their own space. The team at Four Corners wanted a more innovative way to bridge the gap between showroom and screen—something that would make online rug shopping feel more personal, practical, and confident. That’s when they approached us with a bold idea: to bring Augmented Reality (AR) into their website and social platforms so customers could preview rugs in their homes before making a purchase.

Our Approach

We started by working closely with the team at Four Corners to identify a curated selection of rugs that would be digitised first. Some of these rugs were photographed in-studio by us, while others were provided by the client in high-resolution formats. Using these images, we developed a series of hyper-realistic 3D models that matched each rug in both texture and detail. Each rug wasn’t just modelled once—we built multiple versions to reflect the different dimensions available, giving users a more accurate sense of scale and fit.

Once the models were complete, we integrated AR functionality directly into the Four Corners website and their Instagram presence. This allowed customers to view the rugs using their phone cameras in real time, placing the pieces virtually in their own rooms. The process was seamless: tap a button, scan the floor, and instantly see how the rug looks against your furniture, lighting, and decor. On Instagram, we used Meta’s AR tools to create tappable filters, turning rug exploration into an interactive, shareable experience.

Throughout the process, we maintained an agile development approach—testing each model in real-world lighting and home environments to ensure accuracy and responsiveness. We also worked closely with the client on UI/UX, ensuring the AR experience felt intuitive and aligned with the luxury feel of their brand.

The Outcome

The integration of AR completely transformed the Four Corners Rugs online experience. Customers were now able to visualise rugs in their homes with stunning realism—leading to greater confidence in their purchasing decisions and a deeper sense of connection with the product. The new digital tools not only elevated the brand’s presence but positioned Four Corners as an innovator in the luxury interiors space.

By blending technology with design, we helped bring the tactile world of rug shopping into the digital age—proving that even the most traditional industries can create standout experiences online with the right tools and vision.
